Therapy Approach

I use an integrative interpersonal approach that is trauma-informed and tailored to individual needs. Together we attend to how your relationships, lived experiences, and communities influence and support your well-being. We focus on the whole person in therapy—mind, body, spirit—including the identities and cultural context that are important to you.

I work with you to establish trust, as the therapeutic relationship is a vehicle for healing when it is a safe and supportive space for growth. With a strengths-based and collaborative approach, we build on the wisdom and resources you have already cultivated. I listen deeply as you explore and identify the places and patterns for which you seek change and growth, and together we come up with a plan for therapy. I integrate mindfulness and self-compassion, increasing your ability to tune in to your needs and emotions and to align with the things that are important to you.

Personal & Professional Experience

In addition to my training as a counseling psychologist, I have an interdisciplinary educational background in literature, theology, and international studies. Together, these deepen my respect for the ways culture and the narratives and experiences of our lives shape us and help us understand the world.

While I have deep roots in the Twin Cities, I value my formative experiences living and studying overseas and on both coasts of the U.S. Having lived in various contexts, I respect the array of cultural experiences and communities that shape us. These inform my commitment—individually and in community—to examining layers of privilege and issues of justice.

Early vocational experiences assisting with refugee resettlement and providing emotional-spiritual support in a hospital setting deepened my appreciation of the complexity of life and the power of resilience.
